Before your circumstances change, God often begins by changing you.

We naturally pray for open doors, breakthrough, healing, provision, and solutions. We ask God to transform what is happening around us. Yet, many times, His first work is not in the situation but in the person praying.

God understands that a changed environment without a changed heart rarely produces lasting transformation. He is far more interested in preparing you for what you are asking Him to receive than simply placing it in your hands.

The waiting season is often a workshop. It is where patience is developed, character is refined, wisdom is deepened, and faith learns to stand without immediate results. While you are focused on the destination, God is shaping the person who will arrive there.

Many of the prayers we consider delayed are actually being answered in a deeper way. God is building the strength you will need, correcting attitudes that could limit your future, healing wounds that would affect your relationships, and teaching lessons that success alone could never teach.

This is why spiritual maturity is measured not only by what God gives you, but also by what He produces within you.

When your heart changes, your perspective changes. When your perspective changes, your decisions change. And when your decisions change, your life begins to move in a different direction.

Do not become discouraged if everything around you has not changed yet. Ask yourself a more important question.

What is God changing in me during this season?

Sometimes the greatest answer to your prayer is not an immediate change in your circumstances. It is the quiet, patient work of God transforming you into the person He created you to be. When that work is complete, you will often discover that you are not only ready for the blessing, but able to steward it with wisdom, humility, and faith.

As Romans reminds us, true transformation begins with the renewing of the mind. God changes us from the inside out, and that inner work becomes the foundation for everything He desires to do through our lives.
